Falling In Love…. with the changing season

Our Soon To Be Jack-O-Lantern

I have a touch of the Winter Blues.  And it’s not even Winter yet.  And I live in Southern California.  I must be a wimp, because I’m not battling hail storms, shoveling snow, or dressing in more than two layers at a time.  In fact, I’m in a tank top at 9pm and have the window wide open.  So, what’s my problem?

The GREY weather.  The ugly, yucky, cloudy, grey sky.  The lack of sun.  The rain puddles that aren’t drying up.  The flu bug that hit my house earlier this week.  The inevitable, not so fun things about this time of year are taking up precious space in my head and heart, and preventing me from thinking about the beauty of the season.

So, what’s a girl to do?  Remind herself of the many reasons she used to be in love with fall and winter.

Pumpkins

Halloween Parties

Walks in the Rain

Apple Pies

Candy Corn

Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows

Spice Scented Candles

Crackling Fires

Flannel Sheets

Extra Warm and Cozy Jammies

Soups and Stews

Scarves and gloves

Holiday Spirit in the Air

And maybe list a few things to do to “perk up” those gloomy days at home

Play some music

Burn those spicy scented candles

Bundle up and play outside.

Put soup in the crock pot

Go the the pumpkin patch

Do some holiday crafts with the kids

Enjoy a cup of tea

I’m feeling better already.  This is my starting point.  I’m open to more suggestions!

    Hi Suzanne!

Thanks for commenting on my “sun” dried tomatoes, because now I’ve discovered your beautiful blog!

And I love this post! I am digging my Texas heels in ~ living here in New England ~ not wanting the warmth to disappear. Thanks for the inspiration to embrace the new season!
